# SMTP Settings

Here SUs can configure and test email delivery settings for the system. These settings include connection details, authentication credentials, and sender information.

### Connection Configuration

This section allows users to configure how the system connects to the SMTP server for sending emails. It includes the following fields:

· Host: The address of the SMTP server used for sending emails.\
· Port: The port number used by the SMTP server (e.g., 25, 465, 587).\
· SMTP Security (Encryption): The type of encryption used for securing connections (SSL/TLS).\
· Authentication Type: Defines the authentication mechanism used (e.g., LOGIN, Plain, CRAM-MD5).\
· Timeout: The maximum time (in seconds) the system waits for a response from the SMTP server.\
· Persist connections to the SMTP server: If enabled, the system will maintain persistent connections to the SMTP server for efficiency.

### SMTP Authentication

Users must provide authentication credentials to enable the system to send emails via the configured SMTP server. The authentication details include:

· Username: The SMTP account username used for authentication.\
· Password: The SMTP account password used for authentication (hidden for security reasons).

### Sender Configuration

This section allows users to configure the default sender information for outbound emails:

· From Address: The email address that appears as the sender of outgoing emails.\
· Reply-To Address: The email address that recipients should use for replies.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.solar-archive.com/docs/admin-ui/settings/smtp-settings.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
